Skylar Cibirka, a native of Augusta, Georgia, embarked on her enchanting harp journey at the young age of four. Recently achieving her Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance degree at the University of North Georgia under the guidance of Dr. Molly O’Roark, Skylar's passion for the harp knows no bounds. Within the music department, Skylar played an integral role as the music theory tutor and teacher assistant, lending her expertise to aspiring musicians. She also served as a diligent research assistant, collaborating on the development of the Database of American Sing-Along Repertoire in conjunction with the music history department. At the University of North Georgia, Skylar showcased her love of the harp on stage alongside Sinfonietta with the memorable performance of the Debussy Danses: Sacree et Profane in the spring of 2022. Skylar's dedication to her craft extends beyond the university setting. She has enriched her musical journey through participation in numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Greater Augusta Youth Orchestra, the North Georgia Harp Ensemble, the Georgia Piedmont Youth Orchestra, and Sinfonietta at the University of North Georgia. Continually seeking growth and inspiration, Skylar actively participated in summer camps such as The Young Artists Harp Seminar and The Summer Harp Academy, which expanded her repertoire and honed her harp skills. Skylar was also selected for a coveted internship at the renowned Atlanta Harp Center, an opportunity that allowed her to delve into the world of harp business, sales, and maintenance. Her dedication and passion for the harp industry during her internship led to permanent employment, solidifying her expertise and understanding of the industry. Skylar's musical prowess extends beyond academic and professional settings. As an active freelancer, she lends her mesmerizing harp melodies to weddings, parties, memorials, and other special events throughout Georgia, infusing each occasion with an ethereal touch. Throughout her journey, Skylar has been privileged to study under the tutelage of esteemed harp teachers, including Vonda Darr, Carolyn Lund Munford, Ellen Foster, Maggie Lovell, and Molly O’Roark. Their collective wisdom and guidance have nurtured her talent, contributing to her ever-evolving harp education. Skylar eagerly looks ahead to embrace new harp opportunities and further refine her musical advancement. With her unwavering dedication and passion for the harp, she looks forward to pursuing graduate studies in the near future to further her musical expertise through graduate studies.
